Jean Thompson
BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST (BCBA)
This is my first year as an “official” Dickson County employee; I previously served in a consultant role as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for three years. I worked in Hickman County Schools for 30 years before retiring. There, I was employed as a school-based speech therapist, as an elementary administrator and at the Central Office as Director of Special Programs. Upon retirement, I worked as a behavior analyst with children with Autism as well as with adults with intellectual disabilities.

Beth Akers
BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST
I am currently on the Behavior Team and serve as an Interventionist. I have been serving students in Dickson County for 10 years. I have been working specifically with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder for 23 years. Before I worked for Dickson County Schools, I worked for a company out of Nashville called S.A.I.L (Strategies for Autism Through Individualized Learning) where at that time we were one of the only companies providing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). We served several school districts, including Dickson, and children in the home. My passion is working with the little ones in preschool where we can figure out how they learn best and really focus on building up their skills so they have the capabilities to be more successful once they are elementary school. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education and my masters is in Special Education, both from Belmont University.
